The 75-Foot Shot 02/15/2012
This morning, much of the talk on campus seems to be centering around last night's basketball victory over Willamette High School, and the amazing basketball shot that's all over the news. In the final seconds of the first quarter, senior Willy Malos made a last second shot from 75 feet away, stunning the crowd with a moment they'll never forget. Click below to watch the KEZI game highlights from last nights newscast. Congrats to the boys basketball team, for their 61-58 victory! Happy Halloween! 10/31/2011
Happy Halloween from Marist High School! It may be a bit spooky today on campus... we never know who (or what) will show up to attend classes, or check in on us. But it's Halloween and that's part of the fun! So pull out the candy bags and get ready for ghouls, goblins.. and the occasional Imperial trooper to stop by your door tonight! The Marist Welcome 09/22/2011
Last week, Marist Catholic High School freshman, transfer students, and new staff members had the opportunity to be "officially" welcomed to the Marist community, through the Welcome Week experience. Activities included Monday's "Become a Spartan Day" challenge, Tuesday's "Activity Day" festivities, Wednesday's "Kissing of the M" ceremony, Thursday's "Mass of the Holy Spirit" service, and Friday's activity fair. Click below to watch our video recap of the week, learn about the traditions and see the students in action! The video is also available on the Marist YouTube Channel. Click here to see it and share it on your preferred social network. To see additional photos from Welcome Week, click here to view the Photos of the Week. For many Marist students, 10 years of movie madness are coming to a close today with the release of the final Harry Potter film in theaters. As the students have grown up, both reading the books and watching the movies, its understandable that some want to pay tribute to the series in creative ways. Enter the sport of Quidditch, a game played on magical broomsticks, flying through the air, as made popular by the book and film series. A land-based version of this game has become popular at colleges around the country, even starting Quidditch leagues in many places. Leave it to a group of Marist students to bring this sport to Eugene, and grab some news media attention along the way. Yesterday, July 14th, a group of Marist students were featured on Eugene local media station KEZI in their Quidditch attempts. Click here to read the KEZI news piece and watch the video segment that aired. Yocum Tribute: Boarding up the 401 06/15/2011
Its Wednesday! We are half-way to Friday. So here's a little something to brighten those mid-week blues. Senior Tate McCurdy decided to film a video tribute to his retiring teacher, Kathy Yocum. Although the video is a bit longer than those that we'll typically post here on the Marist Blog, its a fun, light look at the influence one teacher can make, and how difficult it can be to replace such a legend. Enjoy! |
