Too Many Chickens is a wacky family comedy involving chickens, vacuums, fairies, the Royal Order of the Antelopes, dogs, veterinarians, architects, pottery, mad inventions, gardens, love, writers block, the internet, bad puns, silly cheers and absolutely no animals hurt in this production!

The play is directed by Tony Rust and runs Friday April 20, Saturday, April 21, Friday April 27, Saturday April 28. All shows at 7:30 PM in the Bob Devereaux Theatre at Marist.

We love having the opportunity to share the good news of Marist Catholic High School with the world, and its great when opportunities arise for us to do so. This morning, Marist administrators were interviewed on regional Catholic radio station KBVM/KMME, discussing the school and its mission. Principal Jay Conroy, Vice Principal Stacey Baker, Director of Campus Ministry Rick Martin and Assistant Campus Minister Julie Ferrari all contributed to the interview.

While the interview lasts almost 45 minutes, it is a very informative listen where you can really get a feel for the goals of Catholic education at Marist. Tate recently served as Director of Photography for the student film "Connectivity" in his studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design. While Tate has always had a great artistic eye and video production talent, its fun to see him succeeding on a whole new level. Watch his latest student project below. Great job!

Nick MacKinnon ('10), recently spent a weekend in LA, performing with his University of Portland ROTC group in a national rifle competition. Nick is the second from the left, a bit offset behind his teammates (initially). Fortunately, he is NOT the teammate absorbing the brunt a particularly prickly Marine drill sergeant’s commentary. In the past year, we have heard from several credible UP sources that Nick has ascended to “Most Eligible Bachelor” status, providing a refreshing rebuttal to the notion that nice guys finish last. Nick remains his humble self, though he does acknowledge that wearing the ROTC uniform on campus does have its perks.

As we gear up for tonight's girl's basketball state playoff game vs. Lebanon (7pm @ Lebanon HS), here's a little something to get you in the pre-game mood. Marist junior, Ben Fish, was asked to play the Star Spangled Banner prior to several basketball games this season. And with his amazing guitar talents, he stepped up to the challenge! Take a listen!

This morning, much of the talk on campus seems to be centering around last night's basketball victory over Willamette High School, and the amazing basketball shot that's all over the news. In the final seconds of the first quarter, senior Willy Malos made a last second shot from 75 feet away, stunning the crowd with a moment they'll never forget. The Marist community overflowed with life on Friday as over 70 students and faculty came together to give 60 pints of blood.

Students are required to be at least 16 years of age and not everyone was able to donate but the drive was successful overall. Seniors Margaret Quartararo, Amy Miller, and Courtney Volta worked closely with Lane Memorial Blood Bank to keep the process organized and running smoothly.

Many student’s nerves were on edge at the thought of giving blood but those who went through with it were pleased they could help save lives. “It was uncomfortable but I’m so glad I gave,” said senior Adri Cardani when asked about her first experience donating blood.

The semi-annual blood drive celebrates its tenth year this fall. English teacher Bill Ferrari put together the blood drive in response to the tragedy of 9/11. He has been in charge of coordinating the drive every fall and spring since.  
Marist has been presented with numerous awards from the Lane Memorial Blood Bank for the amount of blood donated each year.  According to Ferrari there have been years in which Marist contributed more blood than some small colleges.
